In order to model a domestic hot water tank containing at least one heat exchanger used for space heat delivery do the following.
Model the system as a boiler with an indirect tank. The AFUE of the boiler should be the recovery efficiency of the boiler. You can look on the detailed DHW page to get our recovery efficiency estimate for the vintage category (Optimiser PC), or get it from AHRI. Set the boiler capacity to what the tank isÂ
Under DHW include the size in gallons of the tank. Set the indirect tank R-value to yield an EF that matches that of the stand alone water heater.Â
